I began my career as a news reporter in West London when stories were written on typewriters, notes were taken in shorthand, editors demanded faultless copy and people relied on their daily newspaper to find out what was going on in the world. Yes, I'm really that old...

I treasure those solid foundations in old-school journalism as I continue to tell all kinds of tales as accurately and engagingly as possible.

For almost two decades I was a feature writer and editor at the Western Morning News, specialising in music, art, entertainment, books, food, gardens and travel.

Now working as a freelance from my home by the River Tamar in Cornwall, I take commissions for articles and columns for magazines, newspapers and websites. I also create original words and images for use online and in print.

I'm a mother, a grandmother, an animal lover, a cook, a traveller and a dreamer.
